Hey sOccketeers,
Did you know 31 million people in Latin America and more than a quarter of Latin American rural communities have no electricity? ¡No! De verdad? —En serio, I have lived in America Latina and when the power goes out, you’re left uncertain whether it will return within horas or even days. La verdad es que aqui in America, we often do not recognize and understand the difficulties that a life without electricidad brings.
Entonces, por supuesto, sOccket teamed with State Farm to launch its Juega Hoy. Ilumina el Mañana (Play Today. Illuminate Tomorrow) program in association with the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup (Copa Oro), the regional futbol championship of North America, Central America, and El Caribe.
The Juega Hoy. Ilumina el Mañana program allows you the opportunity to “generate energia” for your favorite participating Latin American Copa Oro country. You can even play with the prototypes in person at select Copa Oro events and virtually on State Farm Latino (State Farm’s Hispanic Facebook page) and through an iPhone mobile application.
¿Como? Let me explain. It works by tracking your physical and virtual activity, y lo mas que juegas, the more sOccket balls will be donated to Latin American countries in need! ¡Que Chevere, right?!
Cada 15 minutes of juega = una mas ball that will be donated and you get to vote on where you want to send a sOccket. At the end of June, the top three Latin American countries receiving the most votes will receive sOcckets.
Miranos a nostros at 10 of 13 Copa Oro participating cities during the month of June y se puede interact online, download the mobile app, track activity y vota for where you want the balls to be donated through State Farm’s Hispanic Facebook page at facebook.com/statefarmlatino.
Chequealo y Vota Hoy!—Abrazos y sonrisas,
